While most authors don’t like the film adaptation of their books, Sigrid Nunez said she was happy with how her book was presented in this film adaptation.
The dog is definitely the best part of the film
Screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 11, 2024 (First screening) Format: Regular Theater The story doesn’t know where it’s going, so most of the time it just goes on and on, resulting in the impression that it never ends, and this is the part where the viewer will feel the length and weight of its running time, which isn’t even long, but seems tied to the slow and sometimes boring story.
I didn’t really like how the story approached Bill Murray’s character because it felt very unnecessary
The way he was trained to bring out these emotions and use body language to say something is very impressive.
In that sense, it feels very chaotic and could have gone into more depth on the subject or shown a flashback that would have supported Bill Murray’s character
To me, the movie feels more like a story between a dog and a grieving person than a story about a suicidal writer who died and left a dog behind.
Other than that, nothing too special, but overall a nice and warm movie to watch!
