Tale
After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is trying to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from a Bat-smashing in the final shot of the season finale, we never got a glimpse of Robert Pattinson’s cameo as the Penguin. In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought tooth and nail to get his version of the Penguin to smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but he was unsuccessful. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user who prefers cigars. The DC Studios logo has been placed on a rainy Gotham alley. The umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo on The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga / Demi Moore / Colin Farrell / Richard Ayoade / Jack Savoretti (2024). The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’ Batman, and I think those who haven’t seen the latter will be a bit lost. I’ve been watching Batman for a while now, and the series does a great job of quickly reminding you where the movie left off without going into a didactic recap. It also captures the film’s aesthetic and dark tone well, though the series has far more moments of wit than the film itself. As in Batman, Colin Farrell did a great job portraying the Penguin as the stereotypical mob “street kid”: dirty, dirty, volatile, and quick to commit to violence; but also smart, cunning, and able to read people. This character may have absolutely nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. I have my doubts that the show will give Penguin a teenage sidekick; and I don’t know if Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain him for an entire season. But so far, everything has started off great.
