A remake of El Agente Topo (2020)
Retired Charles gets a new lease on life when he answers a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. Based on the Chilean documentary El Agente Topo.
Before you know it, you’re so involved that you just have to find out who it is!
To be honest, I admit that at first glance I wasn’t sure I would be interested in the show at all, but somehow it managed to captivate me. All the characters are incredibly easy to love and they are so relatable to the people in your life.
My favorite quote from the series is: “Every big event in your life, in retrospect, seems like a miracle” It’s very poetic because it finds an answer in each of us
It’s also a gentle reminder that we all ask the same thing, to live and enjoy life, so we should do our best to get along and, above all, to be kind to each other. I also admit it was a little strange to see Ted Denson in this role, especially if you’re used to him as “Sam” on Cheers; but “Charles” tugs at your heartstrings from the start, leaving no sad memories of “Sam”.
It’s a bittersweet but gentle reminder that Father Time has no favorites
I hope you’ll watch it and recognize and empathize with the daily problems that some people in our society face on a daily basis. It’s a nice change of pace that won’t leave you feeling guilty about watching another “crime” show.
