Tale
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living by carrying out assassinations for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who pursues him in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “Day of the Jackal” was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on then-President of France Charles de Gaulle.
The show shifts the setting to the present day
Referenced in Graham Norton i likes: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). It’s well done for the most part, the actor from Jackals is very good here. There are a few occasional scenes where I find it unlikely that the Jackal wouldn’t have been easily identified by a security camera, like in ep1 after the sniper’s shot as he leaves the hotel.
Maybe that’s because it’s based on an old book (or TV show?) where that wasn’t a concern
Also the second problem, and probably the biggest one, is that the actress playing the detective is really incapable of expressing herself and only has one facial expression. At work? Blank stare.
Talking to her daughter?
Got shot? Blank stare. Black stare.
