Avril, a young animal defense lawyer, does everything she can to save her client, a repeat offender, from the death penalty. This dog helps Avril accept her own human complexity. During the production, Laetitia Dosch met Justine Triet, who told her that she was shooting Avril’s Trial with a Dog (2023), a film about a trial involving a dog and a visually impaired person, with a female lead. The similarities almost led Dosch to abandon the project.
